Alphonse Mucha

The Czech artist Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) is best known for his Art Nouveau posters from late-19th-century Paris, especially his poster of Sarah Bernhardt, which brought him great public acclaim. This volume pays particular attention to the artist's social and historical works, many of which he executed while serving as an artistic and cultural advisor to the Czech government.
